The modern business world is hectic and fast-paced, and many business people have a HIGH LIFELOAD i.e. tons of responsibilities and time pressures to get everything done. Living and doing business in this way often leads to feeling and performing at less than OPTIMUM.
Most of us have the INTENTION of leading a more energetic life, so we can feel better, look better and ENJOY our lives inside and outside of business. However we often DON’T GET STARTED on making healthy living changes because we’ve got so much going on – Totally understandable, when you are juggling so many responsibilities in business and at home.
I haven’t got time to do courses, come to classes, or read books …..
DOES THAT SOUND FAMILIAR?
If you are one of those people you are probably looking for smart and straight- forward solutions, which are easy to implement to help you make a quick start to improving your health and quality of life, read this blog series – How to Enjoy 10/10 Energy and do More Every Day!
In the following blogs, I’ll be sharing some smart strategies and tools you can use to kick-start your HIGH FLYING ENERGY.
To start with I invite you to develop your VIP mindset.
So why the VIP mindset, and why is it so crucial to your success?
It’s all about putting YOU first. Remember it’s not selfish to do this! Many people have a tendency to put themselves at the back of the queue, because they’re busy looking after everybody else, from business clients, colleagues and team to family, friends and even pets! We make everybody else a priority and feel guilty if we try to put ourselves first.
MY TOP TIP: DITCH THE GUILT!
Put YOURSELF FIRST and everyone else around you will gain. You must to invest in YOU and make time for yourself. Imagine how you’d treat your No. 1 client and treat yourself in the same way.
LET ME GIVE YOU A BUSINESS REASON for investing some time in yourself!
Think of the times when you feel energy dips; a slump, a lack of concentration, drowsiness, typically these occur mid morning or in the afternoon. How much productive work time do you lose each day?
For some people, 10 out of 10 energy means gaining back some of the time we lose during the day when we’re feeling tired or our mood is low.
Imagine this period of inactivity in terms of earning a salary. Imagine losing an hour a day!
1 hour x 5 days x 46 weeks = 230 hours = 29 working days
This is five hours a week over 46 weeks of the year – this equals 230 hours or 29 days! Imagine what you could do with those days – it’s the equivalent of your annual leave!
Multiply that up by a few team members and just think how your productivity will rocket. How may that impact on your business? Maybe you can win new contracts, make more profit or develop new products all without adding extra labour hours to your overheads. Or on the flip side what may you lose out on if an hour or more evaporates through low energy levels? What if you have more than one energy dip during the day or across the month, how would that affect you?
“There is a real, measurable benefit to invest your time and mindset to achieve this”.
What could you do with an extra hour per day?
Think about that one hour a day and what you would do with that extra time; make a list of around 5-6 things you could do in an hour.
Work or play? We’ve already looked at how an extra hour a day will benefit your business but perhaps you will choose to use you extra hour on that elusive ME TIME – some ideas are: leaving work early, or enjoy some simple leisure pursuits: go for a walk, have a long soak in the bath, read a novel or a magazine. There are so many pleasurable things you could do with an extra hour per day!
Give yourself a month to focus on making an effort with that “extra” hour. Remember to think about yourself as a VIP, the most important person in your life and your business.
- Assess where you are now, and think about where you would like to be.
- Set out your goals – these need to be personal to you, and make them clear, exciting and rewarding. Having these in your mind makes you concentrate on what it is you’re trying to achieve.
- Consider also what barriers are in your way, and how you can get past them. These are what prevents us from getting started with a new phase, halt us or even take us off track completely. When you know what these are, you can work to navigate around them.
- Think about the practicalities of life to help you gain the success in achieving your goals e.g. being organised, planning food, breaks, rest and play.
I’ll be sharing more detail about these areas later on in the series. In the meantime REMEMBER to cultivate YOUR VIP MINDSET.
